Dave Huizen, Ph.D. Candidate & Ast. Professor/Program Director with GVSU in the OSHM program, a CIH and prior, EHS Mgr for Pfizer received recognition from the West Michigan Chapter of the ASSE for 25 years of service to the organization.  Dave earned his BA from Hope College and his Master’s in Industrial Hygiene from University of Michigan.  Dave’s most recent claim to fame: Given the craft beer boom in the Greater Grand Rapids area, securing $75K grant from MIOSHA, Dave spearheaded the movement in launching a brand-new safety training program aimed strictly at brewers.  It is the first of its kind in the nation!  In his past time, Dave volunteers his time with recycling efforts at Comprenew.  Dave joined the Chapter in 1992.  To give you a sense of time, today’s safety professional might ask,  “What did I do in ’92? Learned how to spell fire extinguisher!”

Establish a Safety Fund

Donors can establish a named academic scholarship or professional education grant fund through the ASSP Foundation. Scholarships and grants advance the safety profession and provide national recognition for the donor. The Foundation manages the administrative details of this program and works with the donor to provide qualified award recipients each year.
