Join the three Michigan ASSP Chapters (West Michigan, Mid-Michigan, and Greater Detroit) for an in-depth presentation by Derek McCormick, JD, CSP, Attorney at Douglas W. Crim PLC, as he provides a comprehensive overview of the MIOSHA citation, appeal, and abatement process. This session will cover crucial aspects of compliance, enforcement actions, employer rights, and the entire process from citation to appeal and abatement. Attendees will gain expert guidance on how to respond to citations, contest violations, navigate the appeals process, and ensure proper abatement of hazards.
Derek’s unique background combines legal expertise with hands-on industry experience. Before transitioning to law, he served as a professor for six years at Grand Valley State University’s Occupational Safety and Health Management program. He also brings 13 years of general industry experience as a Safety Manager for a national transportation carrier, a plastic resin manufacturing company, and a Tier I/Tier II automotive supplier. This depth of experience provides attendees with a well-rounded view of MIOSHA’s practical and legal implications.”
