Construction Site Safety Manager, Fort Lauderdale, FL

Reporting to the Regional Safety Manager, the Construction Site Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing all on-site safety programs to ensure a safe and work environment for everyone. 
You will be a member of an assigned project team and work with that team as projects progress or start anew.  This role partners with project management, subcontractors, and employees to promote a strong safety culture, prevent workplace incidents, and ensure compliance with OSHA, local, state, and federal regulations. The Safety Manager serves as the primary resource for all health, safety, and risk management activities on construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
Safety Program Management
•    Develop, implement, and maintain site-specific safety programs, policies, and procedures.
•    Promote a proactive safety culture focused on incident prevention and continuous improvement.
•    Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and hazard assessments.
•    Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and all applicable safety standards.
•    Monitor safety performance metrics and prepare reports for project and company leadership.


Field Safety Oversight
•    Perform daily jobsite safety observations and inspections.
•    Identify unsafe conditions and behaviors and implement corrective actions.
•    Coordinate and monitor subcontractor safety performance.
•    Verify compliance with PPE requirements, fall protection standards, confined space procedures, lockout/tagout practices, excavation safety, and other construction safety requirements.
•    Conduct pre-task planning reviews and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).

Training & Communication
•    Deliver safety orientation for new employees, contractors, and visitors.
•    Conduct toolbox talks, safety meetings, and ongoing training programs.
•    Coach supervisors and field personnel on safe work practices.
•    Foster employee engagement through safety campaigns and recognition programs.

Incident Investigation & Risk Management
•    Investigate accidents, injuries, near misses, and property damage incidents.
•    Determine root causes and develop corrective and preventive actions.
•    Maintain accurate incident records and regulatory documentation.
•    Assist with workers’ compensation and insurance claim reporting when necessary.

Regulatory Compliance
•    Maintain current knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and local regulatory requirements.
•    Manage regulatory inspections and audits.
•    Prepare and submit required compliance documentation and reports.
•    Support project teams during owner, client, and governmental safety reviews.

Qualifications Required
•    Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
•    2+ years of construction safety experience on commercial, industrial, infrastructure, utility, or manufacturing projects.
•    Strong knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Construction Standards.
•    Experience conducting safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
•    Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
•    Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred
•    Professional Certification (CHST, ASP, etc.)
•    OSHA 500/510 certification.
•    CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician) certification.
•    First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
•    Bilingual English/Spanish skills.

Physical Requirements
•    Ability to walk active construction sites for extended periods.
•    Ability to climb ladders, access elevated work areas, and navigate uneven terrain.
•    Ability to wear required PPE and work in varying weather conditions.
•    Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.

Compensation & Benefits
•    Salary Target $70,000 to $90,000
