Our two presenters work for Fastco Industries in Walker, Michigan. Steve is their Facilities
Manager and Tim White’s daily focus is on Quality Assurance as their PPAP (Production Part Approval
Process) Coordinator.
These two highly unlikely “safety” people took the initiative. Backed by the company president,
this duo explored how FMEA could support their safety initiatives to reduce risk exposures to their
co- workers. After the exploration phase, it was evident that it needed to undergo a beta study.
Implemented in January of 2023, results have been positive. Decisions (towards corrective actions)
were based on factual data. And their results to a reduction in workers compensation claims and a
reduction of severity measures only reinforced having FMEA as a significant part of their safety
culture with the aim towards continuous improvement.
Many of us as safety professionals might know about the concepts of FMEA in textbooks but have
never witnessed it in action. This is your chance to see how their system works, which can be
applied to many industries.
