There have been significant developments in the world of Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (OHSMSs) over the last year. The first truly international standard in this area was published last March: ISO 45001, Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems. Some supply chains are requiring that suppliers certify to the new standard, and the requirements and approaches of the 45001 standard are expected to influence occupational health and safety management approaches. Also, the existing ANSI/ASSP Z10 standard, on the same topic, is undergoing significant and meaningful revision and is likely to be published in the spring of 2019. The ANSI/ASSP Z10 standard was an influence in the development of the ISO 45001 standard. The new Z10 is also expected to be an important resource going forward for a variety of industries. Join Greg for an overview of the systems approach to safety management, discussion of key requirements of the standards and differences between the standards, some practical exercises, and some sharing of best practices between attendees.
